Day to day, I operate as the Chief Marketing and Brand Officer for The Gathering Spot, a members-only club founded in Atlanta, GA in 2016. As a brand executive, I’ve been able to leverage my multi-disciplinary expertise as a marketer, strategist and creative to build The Gathering Spot into one of the hottest start-up brands in the country, with plans to expand our concept nationally to Washington, DC. and Los Angeles in 2019.
Prior to moving to Atlanta in 2014, I cut my chops in New York City working in the corporate and agency worlds alongside globally known blue-chip brands such as Nike, Converse, Sprite, Beats by Dre, MetLife, American Express and Land Rover to name a few.
The diversity of those experiences helped me develop a "Swiss army knife” skillset that crafts solutions at the intersection of consumer, culture, brand and strategy — which I use daily to bring ideas to life, launch intellectual properties and create cultural commerce.
I’m fortune because my innate curiosity allows me participate in cultural lifestyle spaces, rather than simply consuming. it.
Desiring a more entrepreneurial path, I left the agency and corporate worlds to leverage my versatile skills and relationships to build “forward thinking ideas and intellectual properties”, which led to The Gathering Spot.
HOW I GOT TO TODAY.
Born and raised in Chicago, IL, I was fascinated with shows like Where in The World is Carmen Santiago, Silver Hawks, Thundercats, the Jetsons and C.O.P.S. which jumpstarted my creative imagination. I was always gifted with the ability to draw, so I started drawing the cartoon characters I saw on TV and inserting myself to the stories. Then, I started drawing things I saw around Chicago. Then, I was introduced to Michael Jordan and the game of basketball which brought my world to a screeching halt. From that point on, the culture of hoops ruled my entire existence, from taping Chicago Bulls games on VHS to collecting basketball cards to making my first basketball team at 10 years. This basketball journey led me to Southern Illinois University Carbondale where I was blessed with the opportunity to join a Division 1 Sweet 16 team as a walk-on. Watched Michael Jordan for the first time.
From that point on, I was in love with basketball. Little did I know this would be my first introduction to Nike my create my affinity for the brand.
Won a city-wide drawing contest.
How? I begged my mom for Jordan's but she couldn't afford them. So I started drawing them on random pieces of paper. I did this for the next 3 years and got pretty good at drawing.
